About Working Your Way Around the World

This blog grew out of the work I did in writing Working Your Way Around the World. In turn, that book grew out of my own experiences working from places all over the globe. I’ve run my freelance writing business from a Georgian townhouse in Dublin, a motel off of I-70 somewhere in Indiana and all over the world. It’s taken a little work to make sure that I could travel with my business, but it’s been worth it — and it comes in handy.

I’ve got to confess I’m jealous! I’m hoping to do this in about five years when my kids are mostly grown, and I can homeschool my autistic daughter as we travel with my husband, who’s a computer networking consultant! It’s nice to have an example before me, though. Best wishes!

  • I don't know too many women who can afford to take a year off and travel. That's no reason to skip on long term travel, though. Between telecommuting, work visas and networking, it's perfectly possible to pick up and move to different parts of the world on a regular basis — and work along the way.

Most women have a passing familiarity with the au pair concept. We focus on jobs that you can be proud to put on your resume: from finding a job abroad to building a business of your own, we've got the resources you need.
