@Chris, I'm curious — would you say that folks coming to you for a VA after reading Ferriss' book have a really good grasp on how to work with a VA? I know that I had some shakedowns when I started working with my VA, but I expected them. I've heard that some people expect a VA to respond perfectly from the start, though.

Hi Thursday

I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed this post.

As someone who owns and operates an outsourcing company in the Philippines (for over 5 years), I have seen the 'before and after' effect, if you will call it that, of Tim's book. It's safe to say that we get a lot of people wanting a Virtual Assistant after reading his book...

But, I am in 100% agreement with you. A lot of people I have spoken to get downhearted when they cant repeat his success. I think you strike a great point when you use the term "Find Your Own Way".

That's bang on the money. Doing things the way YOU want to do them, and at the speed and the timing that is right for YOU.

Love your style of writing, too, Thursday - excellent stuff.

Best regards,
Chris

IMO it's a great book but you can't take it at face value. Ferriss throws out practical ideas. Some of them will work for you, while others won't. I personally enjoy email and interacting with readers. Tim doesn't. I want more free time but I don't want to ditch the whole world.

And no there is no chance in hell that Mr. Ferriss only works four hours a week.

@Hani, It gets me that people really think that Tim Ferriss only actually works four hours a week. He works as hard at things like dancing tango as a professional would! I'm glad you enjoyed the post.

Thank you for this article. A lot of people seem to think lifestyle design = do not work, just travel as you wish. Something like pulling one over the world work structure. And Ferriss does work more 4 hours a week, only he spends his time doing exactly what he likes and that doesn't seem like work anymore - so technically he isn't working. But I'm pretty sure he's out there busting his bum too!

So, yeah, thanks! :)
