My Favorite Location-Independent Individuals on Twitter

I spend quite a bit of time on Twitter. Because I don’t go into an office or have the opportunity to hang out with the same people every day, I’ve found that Twitter has become something like my personal water cooler. I get a head’s up on what some of my favorite people are doing, including news on how their travels are going. I’ve made a list of some of my favorite travelers on Twitter and encourage you to take a look at what they’re up to. They’re in no particular order, though.

  1. Christine Gilbert / almostfearless — Among her other credentials, Christine blogs on AlmostFearless.com, where she discusses her experiences after quitting her management job to travel the world.
  2. Nora Dunn / hobonora — I’ve mentioned Nora here before, but her adventures traveling all over the world and writing all over the web are always worth following.
  3. Chris Guillebeau / chrisguillebeau — If you read Chris’ blog, the Art of Non-conformity, you already know the great posts he writes, but his Twitter feed is just as interesting to follow.
  4. Craig Martin / craig_martin — On top of tweeting about his full-time traveling, Craig also co-hosts the wonderful Indie Travel Podcast.
  5. soultravelers3 — This Twitter feed is actually a family of three who have been traveling around the world since 2006.
  6. Donna Hull / DonnaLHull — Donna documents her days as a freelance travel writer, including some amazing adventures around the world. She also writes a blog on travel for boomers.
  7. Cody McKibben / codymckibb — Cody is currently based in Hong Kong, and he provides tons of advice about how to build your own location-independent lifestyle.
  8. Chris / Lifestyle_Proj — While Chris focuses a little more on lifestyle design in general, he’s using his own expertise to travel all over the world.
  9. Lea Woodward / leawoodward — The founder of LocationIndpendent.com, Lea provides one of the biggest resources for anyone considering working and traveling at the same time.
  10. Sharon Hurley Hall / SHurleyHall — In additon to her main Twitter handle, Sharon also tweets at parkrideflyusa.

Feel free to leave your name and Twitter handle in the comments if you enjoy tweeting about your travels and a location-independent lifestyle. My handle is @thursdayb, if you’re curious.

@Chris, I admire your dedication! I’m amazed you found time to comment while in Jordan. I was there a couple years ago — it’s an interesting place.

Thanks for including me on the list, Thursday, and for pointing me to a couple of new people.. I notice you’ve submitted some stuff for the next Location Independent blog carnival – it should be a good edition.

  • I don't know too many women who can afford to take a year off and travel. That's no reason to skip on long term travel, though. Between telecommuting, work visas and networking, it's perfectly possible to pick up and move to different parts of the world on a regular basis — and work along the way.

Most women have a passing familiarity with the au pair concept. We focus on jobs that you can be proud to put on your resume: from finding a job abroad to building a business of your own, we've got the resources you need.
